API 5L PSL1|PSL2 line pipe Specification:
Scope: API 5L is generally refers to the standards of pipeline steel, include pipeline pipe and pipeline steel plate. Pipeline steel pipe is used to extract oil, steam, water on the ground to the oil and gas industry enterprises. According to manufacture method, pipeline steel pipes are produced into seamless pipe and welded steel pipe, commonly used pipeline line types are welded steel tube with spiral submerged arc welding pipe (SSAW), straight seam submerged arc welding pipe (LSAW), electric resistance welding (ERW), seamless steel pipe is usually chosen where pipe diameter is less than 152 mm.
API 5L line pipe steel grade levels:
GR. B, X42, X46 and X52, X56, X60, X70 and X80, now the big steel mills and factories have developed steel grade for X100 and X120 measures of pipeline steel. Steel pipe of higher steel grade, relatively have higher requirement of raw materials and production, the carbon equivalent between different grade of steel is strictly controlled.

Differences between API 5L PSL1 and API 5L PSL2?
PSL refers to product specification level made for API 5L standard. Pipe specification level is divided into PSL1 and PSL2 for line pipe standard, line pipes of PSL1 and PSL2 have different levels of quality requirement.
- PSL2 shows higher performance than PSL1 as it has stricter inspection requirements, chemical composition and mechanical performance requirements.
- API 5L PSL1 production does not require for impact performance, for API 5L PSL2, all pipes requires for satisfy the following data except x80 grade, full size 0 ℃ average Akv: longitudinal p j, 41 lateral acuity 27 j. Average grade X80 steel, full size 0 ℃ Akv: longitudinal 101 j, or lateral acuity 68 j.
- Line pipe production should include the hydraulic pressure test, and standards are not allowed to nondestructive generation of hydraulic pressure, nondestructive inspection is not required for PSL1, while each API 5L PSL2 pipe shall go through nondestructive examination one by one.
